Hello? Can't talk now. BUSY!
Yeah well, having a craptastic February. I've got design work up to my gills; God knows how many essays to grade. Had a huge stumble in the early part of the week. Huge enough for me to hope that there isn't any residual effect to relationships etc. On top of that I have the brilliant habit of giving out essays in every class for the same week - usually within days of each other.
Maybe I have some very demented stress fetish. A friend noted that life won't seem that bad when I'm off somewhere exotic spending that money. I think she should let me stress about it some more.
The writing therefore is not going as incredibly fast as I'd like - what with all the working and stressing etcetera. Things to look forward to though, I've decided with a couple friends to head over to Comicon in July. I think some of them are going with the idea to pitch already. I'd like to network, meet some young creators, writers, artists, and build towards making Orisha a comic/graphic novel reality. Writing and drawing the whole book myself on my current schedule I think will take years. If I can find an inspirational enough and willing enough artist, I'm happy to hand over the reins before I leave the starter's block.
On the topic of the funny picture papers, a friend of mine got older this week! Whipped up a caricature for her (hope she liked it), and got to thinking. They're very fun to do - and I think I can get much better at them with some practice. So....if you're reading this on Facebook, fire me off a message with a link to one of your profile pics if you're interested in being part of my caricature experiment. Disclaimer: I'll only do one if you aren't ugly. :)
But...you're going to have to wait if you want to see your shiny new caricature to show it off.... or laugh at how poorly it was done. I don't have a scanner! The scanner I used to use on my Toshiba laptop doesn't have drivers for OS X! Sooo, I just gave that laptop to my moms.... who gave it to my sister. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue right? Wrong! I call around a bit to try to buy one. NB: Richard, you live on Tortola. Not one of our several tech/computer/accessory stores see it fit to stock scanners. All they've got is those all-in-wonder devices that print, fax, copy, make coffee, reroute satellite transmissions, and take seismic readings. Why can't I just get a scanner?!
So. The resolution would involve me going to St. Thomas and browsing about to see what I can find on the shelves.... or waiting until late March when I'm in Miami. Problem is - I want a scanner now. We'll see what gives.
